The SozialTicket

The SozialTicket is available for Düsseldorf and for the district of Mettmann at a price of Euro 45.10 per month (Euro 39.60 in a subscription).

The ticket is available in the Customer Centres and at the sales partners of Rheinbahn as well as at most ticket machines.

Those eligible for the SozialTicket include:

  • Recipients of unemployment benefit II and social benefit (SGB II),
  • Recipients of social assistance (SGB XII),
  • Recipients of housing benefit,
  • Beneficiaries according to SGB VIII,
  • Beneficiaries under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act,
  • Beneficiaries under the Federal Pensions Act.

You can find out whether you are eligible for the SozialTicket from the relevant authorities in your city. You will also receive an information flyer and the necessary entitlement card there.

If you live in an independent city such as Düsseldorf, the SozialTicket is valid in price category A. If you live in a city belonging to a district, for example in the district of Mettmann, the SozialTicket is valid in price category KR in all cities of the district. In the respective area of validity, you can use all scheduled buses, suburban trains, RB and RE lines as well as all trams and underground trains around the clock for your daily errands.

The ticket is issued to you personally and cannot be transferred to other persons. In the respective area of validity, you may take up to three children under the age of 15 on buses and trains from Monday to Friday from 7 p.m., all day on weekends, public holidays and on 24 and 31 December. The SozialTicket is also available as a chip card. Just ask a member of staff at our Customer Centre.

Please note: In order to receive the SozialTicket, you must present an entitlement card. The entitlement is issued by various granting offices, such as the Job Centre, the Social Welfare Office and other authorities.
