The Rheinbahn is 75 years old

In 1971, the Rheinbahn celebrated its 75 th anniversary. Yet this time the celebrations were not only internal. The Rheinbahn opened its doors to the public. The success story was published in the jubilee issue of the company newspaper, "Das Rad", in which the Rheinbahn’s managing board thanked "... the many thousands of visitors, who toured our facilities last Saturday and joined the Rheinbahn’s 75 th anniversary celebrations. We are grateful for the understanding shown by the people who did not receive a gingerbread heart: we were simply not expecting so many visitors."

Numerous voluntary helpers from all company divisions contributed to the success of the celebrations through their idealism and commitment. And funds were also raised for a good cause. According to a report, an auction generated an impressive EUR 1,113.01 (DM 2,176.85) in proceeds, which were donated to the Aktion Sorgenkind child welfare organisation.

The report ended with , "See you again at the 100 th anniversary," though it was not known at the time that the 100 th anniversary celebrations would by far surpass the 75 th .
